Celine is adopted!

Celine is happy and in her fur-ever home, but she wanted to take a moment to thank her temporary family, the staff at the Humane Society of El Paso. She believes that she is everything she is, because they loved her!

“Hi, I’m Celine! I am a diva, just like my namesake.

I was adopted from the Humane Society of El Paso on Monday, June 19th. I had been there for four months. Before that, I was at City of El Paso Animal Services for about a month. I was homeless, but I wasn’t alone: I had the love of all of the nice people at both shelters, and their love kept me going.

I love my new family. They gave me the chance that I waited five long months to be given. I am so very lucky to have them.

I had a few problems while at the HSEP, mainly, I did not like other dogs. When staff would try to put my in playgroups I would growl, snap, and lunge at other dogs. Remember, I did say I was a diva. The staff never gave up on me, though, try as I might to prove I was a troublesome girl. HSEP staff never lost their patience with me, and eventually, they found me playmates. The other dogs I would hang out with were also awaiting homes of their own, and I learned to trust them quickly. To the staff at the Humane Society of El Paso, you saw the best there was in me.

I knew, and the staff knew, that it would take a special family to adopt me. I’m picky with other dogs, but I have nothing but love to give to the right humans. That being said, I wanted the same amount of love in return, not just a family that would treat me like an object. That sounds so obvious, but trust me, some people should not have the privilege of having a dog. How do you think I wound up at the pound? HSEP personnel always did a wonderful job of speaking up for me when I couldn’t, and doing their best to find me the right family, and I owe them all of my future happiness. To the staff that the Humane Society of El Paso, you were my voice when I couldn’t speak.

I lost hope sometimes. There were days when all I would want to do is lay in my kennel. I was well cared for, but I desperately wanted a family I could care for, too. No one at the HSEP ever let me mope, though. They would take me on walks, play with me, and give me all of the toys I could possibly play with. They knew that one day, one day very soon, I would have the home that I dreamt of, and they refused to let me lose my hope for long. To the staff at the Humane Society of El Paso, you gave me faith because you believed.

I was adopted. I have a home, and I have a family. I owe all of this to the people at the Humane Society of El Paso. I am a happy, beloved dog, which is something that even I didn’t think I could ever be. In the immortal words of a true diva, Celine Dion, I am everything I am because you loved me.”
